Welcome to Dolphin Island Preservation and the launching of our new website. We hope that you find our site informative and easy to navigate. We have gathered and posted a wealth of information concerning not only Dolphin Island but also the surrounding areas. Please take time to click on all the icons and discover why Georgia’s coastline is becoming one of the most sought after destinations in the country.

Nestled along the Jerico River, Dolphin Island offers private and shared dockage with deepwater at all tides and open access to the Intracostal Waterway. Homeowners on Dolphin Island can enjoy private pristine beaches with just a short boat ride to St. Catherine’s Sound and Ossabaw Island.  And for you divers, Grey’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary is also within close proximity.

Dolphin Island is happy to welcome is first residents, Rob and Jane Sales, “Living on this island is our dream come true. The peacefulness and serenity of deep waterfront living on Dolphin Island encompasses everything we were looking for when deciding to build our home. Birding is now our favorite pastime and Dolphin Island is a natural refuge for so many types of wildlife. Our mornings begin by witnessing a beautiful sunrise over the water and end with a breathtaking sunset and the enthusiastic anticipation of waking up to the same beautiful sunrise again”.

Construction has begun on several more homes, one of which is the first ever built along the Jerico, with breathtaking views of the marshes and river.  Approximately 2,650 square feet, this home located on Lot 23, is being offered at $849,000.  Another new construction, found on lot 21, is being modeled after our community center, The Shell House. Situated on the lagoon, this cottage style home offers one floor living with an additional loft area on the second floor. Two other homes are also available on the lagoon; information and pictures can be found under the “available homes” icon on our website.

Other highlights on Dolphin Island include a recent two-day event, hosted with Lockwood Marine, which featured a wide assortment of fishing and touring boats for all enthusiasts to enjoy. Tours were given of the island from the deck of a beautiful 27ft Grady White and hot dogs and hamburgers were served to quell appetites from a fun-filled day on the water. Those attending the show were also given golf cart tours of the island and current inventory available.

Other local news includes that from Liberty County officials, who just announced that ABG Development would begin construction this fall on a 362-acre development, formerly known as the Glebe Plantation, along Hwy 84 in Midway. The new project will feature commercial centers specially outfitted for restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries, gift shops, drug stores and other retail outlets.  This will provide the residents of Dolphin Island with a wide variety of shopping and dining opportunities just minutes away.  Other commercial projects are currently in the planning stages as well and would offer additional retail and shopping units.

Please continue to check our Island Times section as special announcements will be coming soon about new and exciting changes at Dolphin Island. We will also update the site with future events to be held on the island.

We appreciate any comments or feedback as this site is designed for you. Thanks for your visit!
